VOTE POONT!

OR CLOONT, BUT PROBABLY NOT FOR FOONT...

a 'wooder or not...

the 'lone naked human in a desert refusing to pick up a rock because it is against their principles' theory suggests;

"...it would be better not to ignore the surrounding pack of hyenas. For they too have learnt how to pick up the rock and always get enigmatic at the prospect of using it."

BLESSED BE Anniversaries

This weekend Reprieve.org.uk are having special screenings of 14 days in May. It follows the finals days of Edward Earl Johnson being executed for a crime he didn't commit. A harrowing tale, all too familiar in the U.S. Catch it here...

https://reprieve.bsd.net/page/s/Fourteen-days-in-may-screening

Today is also 10 years since the release of Richard Kelly's Southland Tales. anarchistwood would not be the band they are today if it wasn't for this film. It came after Donnie Darko. It's better than Donnie Darko. Fuck Donnie Darko! The first time we saw it, we were munted. We watched Mullholland Drive afterwards to come down. WTF??? After some sleep, we watched it again and laughed more than the first time. Everyone gets it in this tale of the end of days. It is loud and it is funny. Do you bleed, dawg??? Have a nice apocalypse xxx

hit the reset, snake style

vote for anarchistwood!

Between the age of 9 and 11, I was prone to be bullied. Displaced in a shitty farm town, where I wasn't allowed to fit in. I lost myself in comics, music and the newly discovered world of VHS video - where you could take the film home!

My mum had a part time job there and through building up a rapport with the owner, I managed to get many titles underage. Classics from this period that let me escape the homogenised, redneck reality around me included Penelope Spheeris' Suburbia, Mark L. Lester's Class of 1984 and Escape from New York. I could watch any of those films up to three times a day, each viewing giving me more strength and stamina (and probably an uhealthy nihilistic bent).

All of them had the dog's bolloocks of soundtracks. A mixture of punk rock and electronic soundscapes. All very influential on anarchistwood. I managed to get the theme to Class of 1984 on 7" single. It took weeks to come, imported from Italy. The soundtrack to Escape from New York had extra interest for me, when I discovered that the director had also wrote the soundtrack. John Carpenter's output has always found a place in the house of Blackwood, since first getting the hots for Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween. Searching out Escape from New York, meant a trip to our home city of Liverpool. I managed to find an imported cassette version (the last in store) in Penny Lane records. I wore it out within a couple of years. Big sythns and scary show tunes sung by the inmates of Manhatten Island. Most exotic for a prepubesent delinquent.

I find myself gobsmacked as it has came to my attention, that anarchistwood are at the top of 'who should support John Carpenter?' on Samhain this year, for one of the guardians of alternative music, All Tomorrow's Parties. I expect that at some point someone with a manager will hit the poll heavy to make sure they get the slot, but until then... if you use Fb, log in and vote for the 'wood. I pormise we'll do the punk rock blues fuzz, complete with all the trashy cheap trick electronica thorwn in if we get it.

I don't give a fuck about your president - Snake Plissken, Escape from New York

Jude Hagg, Cocaine Piss happy fuckin' new year

It was meant to be released on 22nd Nov, then winter solstice, but finally it gets released at the start of a new Gregorian calendar. Ladyboys and geezer byrds, ex gratia recordings is proud to present DONKEY WANTS YOU DEAD by Jude Hagg. As with all things from the mind of Sexton Ming, best leave it to your own descriptions, but it's s steal at four pounds sterling. Expect more from Ming over the next year. That seaside air makes him frisky.

A strange time of the year, here at the Labitory (as if there is ever any other), on the 7th of Jan, it was the day we burned the snowman. It snowed on the day. Very messy. On said day of this year (common era), Mr Ockenden from Reality Check would have been 50 years old, apparently. I say it like this, as looking it up may make me consider being a responsible grandparent. sheet. Check out some of what he left us here.

A mutual friend I have with Mr Ockenden (who I wrote about before), lives over in Belgium. A popular destination for media coverage over the past few months. Just when I was thinking it was all bombs n' state stuff, those good folks over at Hypertension Records sent us COCAINE PISS - nice trashy punk n' roll, with a high pitched DIRT, dada banshee thing a hollerin'. All good stuff and highly recommended for tube journeys and general jumping about in a free and salacious manner. Would love to see these folks live.

more piss and yayo to order

Back to the war though, happy new year xx
